Help me to install red hat on sony vaio pcg-r505gl

Hi, all. I have tried to install red hat 9 on my sony vaio lap top(pcg-r505gl). It is booted with cd/dvd Rom. However, after I selected Enlgish, us keyboard, and installation method respectively, it does not read my cd-rom or my files in hard drive(I tried to install from hard drive too). I went through intallation document many times however couldn't find any hint or clue. Is there anybody who can help me? Thank you.

before you start the installation, check the disks through the diskcheck to see if anything is messed up

I'm sure you've got the answer by now, but I just stumbled across this and thought I'd add it for you or anyone who follows.

http://tinyfragments.com/vaio.php mentions:
The installation was actually pretty painless, with a few catches. I popped the first RedHat cd into the docking station DVD drive, and booted into the install program. Unfortuantely, there are no ieee1394 drivers on the boot disk that support the vaio's docking station, so I had to copy all the files to a neaby computer and share them via ftp. Once I told the install program I wanted to do a network install, it found the nic, got an ip address, and the rest of the installation went fine.

Hope it helps.

Thank you

Thank you for your help artisan. I will try to install via ftp. I actually have installed suse linux. However, I have used RedHat for years, so, if it works I will change without any hesitation.
Now, I need to find the way how to install RedHat via ftp. Maybe, I need to surf around more sites for the way. Many thanks to you.
