Help me figure out which kernel and initrd version i have from a live cd prompt. Pls
 

I am installing gentoo and my mbr is messed up, so How do i figure out what kernel version I have and initrd version i have beause I think the reason its not working is because well you guessed it. I typed in the wrong versions. Anyway I have the live cd prompt and thats all I can get to. Any help would be great

uname -a will give you the full version information for the kernel.

initrd's themselves don't have versions, but the scripts and stuff inside them do. Usually it will say during the boot what version the scripts are.
