The title of your post "help me" is not good. It should describe your problem. Then people can tell if they can answer it. It could have been e.g. "Where can I get VLC for Redhat 5?"

Spell out your words. And do you mean RedHat ENTERPRISE Linux 5, or the very, VERY old RedHat 5? If you're looking for enterprise software, then you should just be able to do "yum install vlc", and/or call RedHat support. You are paying for RHEL, right?

If not, and this is a new installation, then you really need to load the current version of CentOS...almost identical to RHEL, but free. Without RHEL support, you [B]WILL NOT get bugfixes/patches/updates/security releases[B/]. You won't be able to load software/libraries from packages that aren't on the DVD you have, and installing things (like VLC), will be MUCH more difficult.
