Help Me :)

i just installed thizlinux desktop 7.0 without problems. when it boots up it asks me for a username and password and i have no clue what to do i dont know how to boot to safe mode in linux i guess it isnt f8 :s. any help would help me out alot thanks everyone

hmmm... the username should be 'root' and you should have been asked to set a password when installing, if not then you'd probably leave the password blank then use the 'passwd' command to set a password

thanks alot for your quick response :D

no prob, remember though, once you do get in do the followoing
useradd *pick a user name, any user name*
passwd *picked user name* (and set a password)

and from then on out use the new username and password to do tasks, and if you need root access (such as to install a program) then use 'su -l' and then enter the root password, this is not only more secure, but it will keep you from fudging up your system by accident if you make a mistake :) best of luck

i tryed putting the username as root and now pass and user root and pass root no progress. is there a way to do a safemode boot? and if so could i make my user name and pass there?

Mandrake is a free OS just like the one you are using. If coming from an OS like Windows, Mandrake should feel pretty comfortable to you. You should download that and give it a shot.
