Question Help Installing PHP 4.3.4 SUSE 9


I am trying to install PHP 4.3.4 on Suse 9 but am having problems. I umpacked the PHP soucre and from the source directory I issued ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs. I them issued the make command. All went well intil I issued the make install cammand. The the installation started but then stoped and displayed the following error message.

chmod 755 /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp4.so
chmod: failed to get the attributes of /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp4.so no such file or direcotry
axps:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
make: ***[ install-sapi] Error 1

can anyone please help me with this issue please
