Help installing a second monitor on Xubuntu 15.04?
I have a VGA USB 2.0 Display Adapter. It has a disc to show how to install but it's for Windows. So I have the adapter but don't know how to install it. Also the monitors are different sizes and brands. Any suggestions or links? Thanks.

What distro are you using? What desktop environment/window manager?
What brand/model is it?
What have you tried so far? Did you get any error messages?
Monitor size shouldn't matter too much. Depending on many of the factors listed above, you might be able to just plug it in, restart X, and it "just work".

Can you give us some details of the display adapter, make, part No. etc.? It's got a single VGA connector as well as a USB 2.0 port?
Display adapters with a VGA and DVA connector generally share the same video memory so you can't configure them to show different images, only the video drive circuitry is different, the displayed image is the same.
Does it support dual monitors or are you using an embedded one on your motherboard as the "other" one? If so, Make and model No of your motherboard as well.
Play Bonny!

Thanks maples. Isn't Xubuntu 15.04 the distro? And it's called Vivid. And the desktop would be xfce. My computer is LG but it's at work so I'll write tomorrow with details.
I haven't done anything yet but insert the installation disk and that did nothing.

Thanks. I'll get that information to you tomorrow. (The computer is at work.)

Not sure I understand your question. I just have a typical set-up now. A monitor hooked up to the computer.

Re #5.
@Gregg Bell :
The reason why you are asked about "motherboard specs" is :
Some motherboards cannot use the embedded Graphics when another Graphics item is plugged in.
Usual situation :
You plug in a PCIe Graphics board, and the embedded Graphics is disabled.

Check dmesg output before and after the device is plugged in. It probably needs to be plugged in before you start X to actually use it. Also check if it shows up in the output of xrandr.
$ dmesg
$ xrandr
If it's listed in the output of xrandr you can adjust the screen layout and orientation with xrandr.

Okay. It is a VGA USB 2.0 Display adapter. The j5 page is attached. When I clicked on it though the page it took me to didn't seem to represent my particular adapter so I went to Newegg and found it here:

Thanks Shadow but a little over my head.
The dmesg output was too big for here. I'll try to cut it into threes. (I'll post in separate entries.) And I don't know how to plug anything in or what "X" is. And I wouldn't know how to check if it shows up in the output of xrandr, or how to adjust the screen layout and orientation. (In other words--I don't know how to do ANYTHING! LOL Well, I'm not that bad, I guess.)
