thank trickykid for authoring such a wonderful tool. i have referenced it many times myself. if you have further troubles, don't be afraid to ask, we're here to help, also don't be afraid to search, there is quite a database of answers here at lq. good luck to you, and welcome to lq, just incase noone has said that yet.
thanx again peacedog, i tried trickykids instructions & came up with an error that said it didnt look like a tar file, tho it was exactly the file i was told to download.
how do i execute these commands, they didnt work in konsole, so i went looking around & found "view Terminal Emulator"....guess i sound really dumb eh, sorry but im desperate to escape from windows & linux looks so cool..;-)
Not everything you download is a tarball. Commercial software is often distributed in self extracting executables (download, mark as executable, run it) or as a certain distribution's package (for mandrake, I suggest www.rpmfind.net for locating packaged software to use in mandrake)
Also be aware of a small bug with mandy 9.2 sometimes referred to as the "disappearing menus" , it doesnt cause any functional problems but can cause a user to say "wtf" until they are aware of it.
