HELP, I entered the wrong command... lost all my files
 

hello, hrm, i have a major problem

I was tired and went to delete a directory and its content and forgot to speficy the directory name, i entered: rm * -R
Now lost all what was in my home directory :((((

HELP, i must get those files back, what can i do??

There are many thread on here that deal with recovering deleted files on Linux, so they'll be good reading, and probably can't add much to them that hasn't been said. A quick search can turn them up. First thing, though....STOP using the system immediately.

The only other alternative is to restore from backup.

First, don't do anything that could cause a write to that drive. Ideally, run the computer from another drive---or mount the problem drive into a different computer.
