Well, you might have also just deleted the old stuff. The new httpd.conf file might be on your system. If you are afraid it won't start because you are using your old init.d script, well it is probably looking in the old place. Try a locate:
If something turns up, there it is. Now just edit to your needs, and edit your init.d script to show the new location (or symlink to the old).
