Help deleting linux partition, GRUB ERROR, 'no such partition'
Hi all, I need some help.
I'm working on a Samsung NC10 netbook with a Ubuntu 9.04 partition with Windows XP. Anyway, I am selling the netbook and need it set to factory setting so i needed to delete the partition and just have XP. I looked up how to do this and was said to delete the partition in windows then use 'partition majic' to reset the partition. however after deleting the partition, the netbook restarted and now will do nothing but show a black screen with 'GRUB ERROR' and 'no such partition' I need advice on how to have the netbook back to just factory settings as i am selling it and i am finding it hard as all advice i see requires a CD drive. Thank you in advance |
When GRUB is trying to load, its throwing that error. I think you need to repair Windows to delete the GRUB from MBR and make XP's bootloader active again.
The best option will be to reinstall XP again :D |
Hi,
Since you deleted you Linux partition the grub is still in the MBR (Master Boot Record) you need to clear MBR Grab a windows 98 or windows XP cd to fix it http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/483/x...overy_console/ |
Unfortunately since it is a netbook, it has no CD drive. Therefore this is not an option
