Help connecting to a wireless router
 

Hi. I'm completely new to the whole Linux scene and I was just looking for some help getting my computer to connect to the internet using the Linux OS. I am using kubuntu, I'm trying to connect using a Belkin54g wireless router, but I really have no idea how to do it. If anyone could poit me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

What type of wireless device do you have in your machine? Is it being detected by the OS?

I have a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN adapter installed in the computer. I don't think that it is being picked up by the OS because when I clicked on the globe in the bottom right corner to try to connect there was nothing in the list that came up. How do I help it find it?

Broadcom... then you will need to start by installing the firmware for your wireless card. Probably the b43 driver (post the output of lspci here so we can verify.

Man, nothing like trying out something new on a computer to make you feel stupid. :/ First, how do you view the output to post it. second, I tried running the command that it said on the page you suggested, but nothing appears to be happening. I'm opening the run command and typing in *sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter* and click the icon that comes up under it, but nothing happens. am I doing something wrong?
