Help choosing distro for DSL internet sharing with Windows XP

Hello,
i'm a windows user with previous linux experience (Red Hat 9) and currently i'm looking to use linux again (dual boot).

My main concern is that i have a local home network, in wich the modem is connect to the other computer (Windows Xp), and i have the connection shared (if he's online, so am i - if he's not, so am i).
So i'm looking for distros in wich network configuration is easier.
Also if you can point a tutorial using said distro (from forum or not - it would be much aprecciated).
I'm googling for those things right now, but any help would be an advance.
PS - i will not use a router - so that's out of question.

Sounds like you just need a distro with a dhcp client. Any one should work.

How are you connecting to the other box, wireless, ethernet? If you are connecting ethernet ports, Linux will be online in the same way as you have it now (automatically). I've used this setup myself before for a dial up connection and it worked first boot. However, if you are connected wirelessly, that takes more effort in Linux, but still fairly easy.
