help! after i restart with usb installation nothing shows up!

So after alot of thought iv'e decided to ditch windows and start using mint 17 cinnamon but heres the problem, i downloaded the 64bit version on a usb stick and used UUI to put it on the stick, when i restarted the computer it worked fine but i did'nt go threw with the installation because i found out my computer is 32bit so i erased all the data on the usb by highlight and delete then reformatted the stick and downloaded the proper version but now when i restart my computer i don't get any option to start installation of linux it just goes straight to windows, its like my usb isn't even in the usb port, pls help me im sick of windows and i want to make the switch to linux but i don't know much about computers so im stuck now, btw im using windows 7 atm.

Have you set the BIOS to boot from the usb drive? If so, are you using the same usb port? I have a notebook with multiple usb ports but can only boot from one. Might be the same on your computer?

Thank you for the reply, I checked my BIOS and there were only three options to boot from #1 PO: WDC WD2500BEVs (my western digital external hardrive which isnt even pluged in) #2 Atheros Boot aganet #3 pioneer dvd-rw so i just changed it to atheros(made option #2 as #1) and i just restarted the computer again and got a black screen with this msg.

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build083)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.1.0.10(10/28/11)
Check cable connection!
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM

then it just starts in windows again?
rite after i restarted the laptop again and went into BIOS again and had a 4th option (which was set itslef as #1) saying UEFI: JetFlashTranscend 4GB 8.07

How did you create this USB flash drive?

Usb generally shows up as a hard drive choice in the hard drive area, not the boot priority area.

How old is this computer? If you don't have at least 512MB of RAM, it probably won't run and the recommended amount is 1GB.

If those are your only options then you hardware is not capable of booting from a USB port, did it come with windows 7 installed or something else and you installed windows 7 later?
