HELP!! Acer aspire one, no internet icon or connection
I have recently bought a Acer Aspire One notebook laptop. I literally got it out of the box and started to set up the wireless connection...it was going fine then the battery went. So i plugged it in via the cable and then when i turned it back on the internet icon had gone and i havent been able to get it back.
I have looked at some of the solutions on the site here and they say about inputing some kind of coding but nonw of them say where you input it. I am NOT a whizz with computers and need it in simple terms. Can someone help me get my icon back and get onto the internet, please? Veryan |
Commands are entered into a terminal, also called a CommandLine Interface or CLI. It looks a bit like the DOS prompt in Windows. The Aspire One uses Linpus by default, IIRC, you can get a terminal with alt+F2.
It is puzzling that it should vanish like that. Looking around, I see it is fairly common with the linpus lite that the netbook comes with. Acer's standard advise seems to be a full system recovery. The gnu/linux netbooks are still something of a mixed bag and vendors don't quite seem to understand what free and open software is all about just yet. So we are seeing a lot of funny issues like this. I suspect you'll find the netbook-ubuntu nicer to use. http://www.aspireoneuser.com/2008/08...buntu-netbook/ |
Use <alt><F2> (as Simon said) and run xterm. The following thread might be the one you need; read the whole thread before applying a solution.
