The best way (IMHO) is to get an inexpensive router. |
Hi,
If you have the same provider for cable and internet, I would think you can contact the provider for information. I actually had a service guy come free of charge to do the cable splitting to use both, and make sure there was good signal and impedance matching. If you are just using one computer, then all you need is a cable modem (like surfboard, for instance). If you are using multiple computers, then you can install a router (either cabled or wireless). I started out with just a 4-port hub connector, but then only one computer can be on at the same time, since the cable company only supplies one dynamic ip address...you can enable internet sharing on a windows computer with a little effort, but it is easier to just get a real router and not worry about it. |
