Help!!!!!

I am trying to get sound to work. I am using SUSE 9.2. When I test the speakers I get sound. But when I try to play mp3's with amaroke I get no sound. And when I try to play cd's with KsCD, I get no sound also. Can someone please help me out? Thanks alot!

OH yeah, I have an Audigy 2 ZS.

Try some other media player like xmms to play your mp3's.. if u can hear sound from the speakers, it should work. As far as playing cd goes, I think u need an audio cable going from your cdrom to your sound card or some stuff like that...best way is to rip the cd into mp3's on your hard drive and play from there.

AndyMan123,

Also check the audio volume sliders. kmix is the app for KDE to check.. also 'alsamixer' could be of help to determine you have the volume sliders for CD right.

Does the audio player 'seem' to play the file with no output, or does it 'skip' the file as if it cannot play it ?

BTW, your subject is _not_ very descriptive.. Help is not really appealing.. something like 'sound problems in SuSE 9.2' or the such is more likely to attract ppl who know something about it than just 'help' Also better for people with similar problems to find similar threads..

Which kernel are you using? Kernel 2.6.10 has problems with OSS and ALSA. If you ARE using 2.6.10, you should run your rc.udev script again. That's really just a slightly buggy workaround, but it'll work in a pinch.
