Till yesterday, my firefox was running perfectly. But today, it is not opening. It shows process for opening firefox on screen, but then firefox wan't opening.
Did you check any process running for firefox, using -
ps -aef | grep firefox
If firefox is killing, then check system logs as follow and share the error message -
more /var/log/messages | grep firefox
Moreover, check display variable, if you made any changes in it..

I re-installed firefox, in case it can start. but not working ...
The process you're getting is not firefox, but showing because of the "ps -aef | grep firefox" command that you run. It means firefox isn't running.
Once uninstall and re-install it again-
sudo apt-get purge firefox firefox-globalmenu firefox-gnome-support
sudo apt-get install firefox firefox-globalmenu firefox-gnome-support
Or after un-installation, once again re-install it from Ubuntu Software Centre (if you're using Ubuntu). And if it still don't work then once reboot your system and then check.
