Hello.. I have 3 questions about OpenSuSE 10.2 .. :)
Hello all.. I am new to linux (I've installed OpenSuSE 10.2 a week ago..) and I am facing 3 problems... The first one is the video codecs... I've read every link that I could found how to install them, but I couldn do it :( Some music clips I have on my PC are running normally with kaffeine, vnc, kplayer and mplayer, but when I enter a CD with a divx movie, it doesn't open... What shall I do?
The second one is about Wine/CrossOver... In my work I am related with M$ Office and I have to use it... I tryed to emulate it through Wine and through CrossOver and here is what is appearing on the screen... CLICK.. How can I fix this ? The third question is for the sound... I am using a lap-top and I have audio signal from the built in speakers.. But when I connect headphones the signal is very low... I can barery heard what is playing.. I am using the headphones with my mp3 player and they are working... Is this something from the software or the hardware? I would be very happy if somewhone can help me, because I liked the OpenSuSE 10.2 and I don't want to use Windows any more .. :) p.s. excuse my english, it is not my mother's language :)) |
1 - guide at http://www.softwareinreview.com/cms/content/view/60
2 - I would think Vmware player would work better if you have a Windows XP CD too. I know nothing about emulators. 3 - What type of headphones? Big DJ ones will draw a high current from a laptop so might be quiet. Small earphones will work fine - have you checked all the mute / levels in KMix (or gnome equivalent)? |
Sorry, but this link is not helping me... I've done everything in it... I have problem with playing DivX movies...
About the headphones, there are ordenary ones... Not big DJ ones... The problem is not only with headphones... The same thing is when I try to connect the laptop with my Hi-Fi.. |
What is it you need MS Office for? Open Office has an excellent open source office suite. We use both open office and MS at work. Open Office file formats can be saved to MS format so they can be used / edited in MS Office.

If you open up your volume controller (i.e. Kmix), you should have 2 separate volume switches, one for master and one for PCM. It may be the PCM that is set low and is causing the problem....
Also have a look here http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2007/0...dvdcss-in.html at method 2 which will explain how to install the codecs |
