Hi and welcome to LinuxQuestions.
Best bet to becoming well versed? Using it. Pick a distro, install it, use it, break it, fix it. Repeat as necessary. |
thank you!
thank you sir!
the reply you posted is very motivating for head start but there are a few questions more i would like to put up. they are: 1.which flavour of linux to use for beginning? 2.do i need to b skilled in programming before starting off? again i would like to thank you sir and i wish for further knowledgeable communications. pratyush gupta |
1. Go to distrowatch.com, pick one of the top 10, and use that. When you're bored, try another.
2. No. |
Starting off with slackware 11.
hello sir ,
As per the recommendation of one of my seniors who is also active member of this site im starting off with slackware 11. i have to just finalise freeing space on my hard disk and then i shall start .i hope this journey would be successful and helpful. thank you once again. pratyush |
Good luck :)
I find Slackware to be a fine distro (I use it myself), although there is a new version out (version 12.0), which has some quite significant changes from version 11.0. |
i can't get version12.0
sir,
my workstation doesnt connect to the internet because it doesnt have one ther therefore i have to reach some place else to access it and therefore im not able to download it but i guess even version 11 would do the job for a beginer like me . im grateful that you reply to my threads so frequently. pratyush |
um... for beginer i would suggest with something more easy then slack actually, like ubuntu, mandriva, or PC Linux OS
