Having trouble with a monitor issue

Hello I am having a monitor issue while trying to install opensuse 11. I am running an HP Pavilion windows xp box. I am trying to also make it half and half half linux and half windows.
When I try to install from the disk I cannot see the install because my monitor says please change to 1280x1024. My windows xp is set on that. Please any help is appreciated. I would like to get started using linux.
Thanks in advance.

Hey there!

Glad you made some steps on LinuxLane :D

Okay! I'd go with a text-based install. Not as nice/frilly but should work...

Glance at these pages

and

Let us know how it turns out, will ya! :)

Hey there,

Well, it all may seem al wee complex, but when you get it broken down to byte-size chunks, it's all okay...

What I guess is: you enter the CD-rom, re-power the PC and get a menu of the Linux installer. The default should be highlighted:

I'm not very versed with OpenSuse - I use Arch, that only installs in text mode...so I apologise if I too have to "sniff around"...

See the boot options? If so, enter this

Quote:

Textmode=1
If you dont see it, you may need to hit the Tab key to get a fill-out line...

I'll look into this thread to see the progress!

Luck

Thor
