Having trouble setting PATH

Hi this is my first post to a forum so please bear with me!!

I'm running Mandrake 9.2 and trying to install the new KDevelop 3.0.1
I ran configure and it errored on not finding BerkeleyDB greater than v3.
So I down-loaded Berkeley, installed OK and re-ran configure for KDevelop, still no joy, same error.
So thinking I needed to update the path so KDevelop could find BerkeleyDB I tried to add to PATH as follows:
PATH=$PATH: /usr/bin/Berkeley.4.2
error returned with "this is a directory". I thought that was the idea behind PATH, to set up directory paths, or am I missing something???

HI

thanks for that but I think that is set already. My current PATH is as follows:
/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin

Hi

just discovered from another post that the problem appears to be with the KDevelop config file when trying to link in the BerkeleyDB. Need to tweak the config file. For anyone else having this prob this is the quote from the post:

./configure for kdevelop-3.0.0 complained about not finding Berekley db >=3.
Perusal of config.log showed undefined thread related symbols in libdb.so
(couldn't find matching errors on kde-bugs allthough some other configure
problems with db were reported there). The problem was solved by adding
-lpthread to the CXXFLAGS for the db test in configure. No compile errors and
simple hello world program works.

Hope this helps for anyone else experiencing the same prob.
