Having trouble installing Mozilla plug-ins
I went to the Netscape to get plug-ins for Java, Adobe Acrobat, Flash Player, and RealPlayer. Flash Player works fine but whenever I try to install the other I get a message telling me "permission denied". I know very little about command lines (I'm just getting weaned off of Windows) and am completely stumped. Can anybody help me?

You have to be logged in as root to install these things as a normal user doesn't have write access to these folders.

I am logged in as root. You type su then hit enter the type the root password correct?

What's your distro?
Don't know for Netscape, but in Mozilla you can check your plug-ins by clicking on "Help" and next "About-Plug-ins". |
Okay I found that bit, but now once I've downloaded the stuff what do I do?

For the java plugin go to www.java.com, it is much more helpful as it gives u direct commands to enable java in mozilla, whereas most other sites just tell you to make a symbollic link....like all newbies know how to do that right. I think giving the proper command is easier. It also explains what you are doing when u enter the command/
