Try with ndiswrapper and the driver for XP provided on your drivers cd.

I tried this already. NDISWapper only recognizes .inf files. The driver that is provided on my Vista 64bit system is a .sys file. I don't think a .inf driver file exists, and if it does i cant find it.

Now...

Don't use the Vista drivers. Go online (hp, dell, wherever) and get the driver exe for Windows XP for your computer. Then, uncompress it and use the appropriate .inf file for ndiswrapper.

What distro are you using? If it is ubuntu, there is a good walkthrough on ndiswrapper here:

Usually, and in most cases, you would have to have an *.inf file to install a driver in Windows. I'm not sure about Vista64 since I haven't touched it, but otherwise all your driver inf would be stored at C:\Windows\inf

My best way is to see what the device is called in Device Manager. For example, we have "Intel(R) blabla Wireless" then do a search on that folder, advanced search, with the following config:

File: *.inf
Text in file: "Intel(R) blabla Wireless"

After the search normally it should find it.

Almost forgot... Is your Linux 64 bit as well? I'm not too sure if it will work if it isn't because the drivers are for 64 bit.

Good luck

Ok, i cant find the xp drivers on gateways site, or any other site for that matter. But i did find the .inf driver file for vista. But when i install it using Windows Wireless Drivers in ubuntu, it says that its an invalid driver.
