having serious problems with my repos

Hi, i`m behind a proxy, until this day i can`t use synaptic to download newer packages, but i don`t know if my config file is wrong or the proxy doesn`t give me enough privilegies, so my questions are:

1. is ther ea way to know if I can download packages from the repos?, some command that can give me info if the communication can established?

2. can you give me some of your repos list to put in on mine?

thanks a lot

Hi, with question number 1.

Can you ping the repo in question? Can you get outside your network? Can you view the repos in some utility, browser etc? If so I have found that any sort of updating can fail due to, bad DNS, improper time configuration, bad HOSTNAME setup, etc.

Question 2 I am sorry to say I can't help you with but I am sure the search utility can help you.

Is this a home setup or elsewhere?

Go to settings -> preferences -> network and configure your proxy there.

Sample from my /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/ sid main

'sid' is unstable distro - use either that or the stable or testing branch
'main' means only GPL software add as required contrib and/or non-free
