Having problems installing lime wire on Ubuntu 7.04
I am running Ubuntu 7.04 i386. I am trying to install a p2p client for file sharing. When I download the lime wire client for Linux It takes me to the Package installer. When I try to run the installer I get a message (Only one software tool is allowed to run at the same time, Please close the other application eg. update manager 'aptitude' or synaptic first. When I go to update manager it says my system is up to date. When I go to synaptic package manager I get this....
(An error occurred) E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report I've been on the net for hours now trying to figure this out. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated, I am a newbie and this is my first time running Linux so if you could explain in depth it would be a lot easier for me. |

Automatix has hosed a number of systems. Yes, it probably works for you, and honestly, it worked fine for me, for a time. I would avoid it, and its certainly not necessary to use it to install something like Limewire. I would start by running the command in the error mesage an see what happens. When you download the .deb file, and double click it, it *should* install Limewire and its dependencies w/ no prob.(did for me anyways). Make sure all instances of adept/synaptic are closed when you do this. IGF |
ive never heard of automatix being a bad thing but lets not spam this thread with this off topic crap email me its in my info
