Has Ubuntu 8.04 on an HP dv6205us and is having trouble with wireless connect.

Hey everyone. I'm sure this question is overdone by now but here's the issue. As pertaining to the OS and laptop model, a connection to the internet is being made but there is no signal. The wireless card is a Broadcom BCM4311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 01). Trying to connect to a Linksys G router, fairly recent model. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. And by the way, my wife and I are new to this so detailed explainations are a must. Thanx.

Did you install the firmware for the wireless card ?

The option for installing the firmware from that other repoistory would probably be easier for you..
