has anyone had any trouble installing on an AMD processor?

I need to upgrade to a new server, is there any difference on installing on a machine with an AMD processor?

no different than an intel based machine if thats what your getting at ...

If you have an AGP graphics card, you might want to pass mem=nopentium to the kernel via your bootloader. I have had X to crash without this.

Of course for a server, you don't really need X.

No problems with AMD CPUs. It is the motherboard chipset and onboard stuff can be difficult. Check SuSE's website for hardware compatability.
