Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

1. Why is it when I run Hardrake the screen gos into dos, with a cursor flashing at the top left hand side of the screen, then I have to rebot the system !
2. Why is it when I try to run Tuxracer, reset the pc to the log on screen ?
dos? DOS is a microsoft Operating system. You mean a shell. Or whatever. hmm actually i don't know exactly what it is called.. it's certainly not dos thou! :-)
Where are you when you try to run harddrake? what are you trying to do?
You'll need to provide a lot more information to be able to get help about problems like that. I'd hazard a guess that tuxracer doesn't like your graphics card drivers. wouldn't count on it tho. Try seeing if theres any know OpenGL prolebms with that cord under linux. Tuxracer uses OpenGL to achieve it's amazing graphics.
And don't double post abuot teh same question please (tuxracer)
Thank you for replying. Sorry about the double post, but I was desperate..............lol tonight when I get home I will get much more info, about my problem. Is there any drivers for my voodoo 4500 for the linux mandrake 8.0
I just want to know how the little penguin can happily slide on his front, over jaged rocks at 40mph..?
i had a quick search about voodoo, and i think there's drivers out there specifally for it. i had that trouble with my nvidia geforce 2 card. it's all because some big poncy companies 'do not wish to share their intelectual propetry with the public'......
It's a bit late here in London, infact it is around 00:45, anyway thanks mate, I will be hunting for the drivers for the voodoo 4500. This should rectify the prob with hardrake and my buddie tuxy (tuxracer), it's funny I was saying that same thing to a mate of mine about the penguin.................lol
Maybe you may be having problems with the MESA package not being fully configurated.
In your desktop click on Software installer, wait untill it loads it all, then go to the part where you search for packages that could be installed and look for the MESA package.
Select the packages you would like to install and click on install selected.
Try to run the game, if it still doesn't work, try going to the game's web site and take a look at the FAQ.
