hard link and soft link
hello
is it possible to create hard link to a file in any other directory(not in current directory)? plz if anyone knows this plz give reply thank u i got the usuage of ln command and hard link soft links ...:) thnk u for ur replies |
|
yes... this is best place for information!
|
does not also the ln man page hold that information?
|
Yeah the man pages are always there.
But this is common for new users to really not understand the man pages thoroughly. Even I had this problem and even now when I went through ld man page, could not understand it well and had to take help of web. |
yes - but if you always avoid it saying "i dont understand it anyway", you will never advance!
then i'd rather have someone read it, not understand it and ask a question, than asking a question and expecting me to read it and provide the answer in a more simple way. |
Yeah thats true but everyone can take their own time to get used to linux. So, its better that unless people get used to using it they get help here.
And once they know how it works we will see fewer people coming here without going through man and info pages. |
i more enjoy showing people where to find the information and helping with understanding issues :-P
(partly because i also prefere being pointed in the right direction when i have a question, rather than getting pre-digested somethings ^^) |
I accept that too. You have a point to mention.
