I've had linux on my machine a few times now and I've tried a number of distributions so I've come to the conclusion I must be doin' somethin wrong! I've tried using wine to run windows applications, to very limited success, but the thing that is bugging me is that if you touch any of the windows drives when you are in linux (even opening the folders does this) and then use windows, windows decides that all the file systems have gone mental and that the drive is corrupt! What can I do to stop windows doing this?
Thanks
Rob

I think this problem has itäs origin in the vfat support of linux. I have the same problem sometimes but only when I write to them.

Are your windows partitions mounted as vfat or as fat, dos?

Try to edit your /etc/fstab file to mount them as vfat. Just add v to the kolumn saying fat.
This way you may at least reduce your troubles.

The problem I seem to have with vfat is that if I edit any files with long filenames, then windows complains when I do a scandisk.
