Handspring will not hotsync
hello,
I am new to mandrake 9.2 download edition ( running the KDE desktop ) and I can not seem to get my handspring to hotsync with KPilot. This is the hotsync log after I try: 13:21:36 Trying to open device... 13:21:36 Device link ready. 13:21:36 Checking last PC... 13:21:36 KPilot 4.3.10 (BRANCH) HotSync starting... 13:21:36 No Files to install 13:21:36 End of HotSync 13:21:37 HotSync Completed. 13:21:39 Pilot device /dev/pilot doesn't exist. Assuming the device uses DevFS. 13:21:40 Trying to open device... 13:21:40 Could not open device: /dev/pilot (will retry) I would appreciate any help anybody might be able to offer  |
What is the connection your palmtop uses? My palmtop's hotsync cable goes into the COM1 port so I just made /dev/pilot a link to /dev/ttyS0... I am using pilotlink (console-based) and it works great.

Mine goes into the only USB port on my laptop. What should I do? Thanks so much for your help

Got it: check this page: http://pilot-link.org/README.usb .
It turns out that KPilot uses pilot-link as its back-end so this is related to your problem. -- Maksim Sipos |
