halt...by yourself please

My linux doesnt wanna seem to shut down by itself. whether i try halt, shutdoqwn -h now, poweroff, they all bring the system down o a halt but i have to push the power button myself. I know that this is a setting somewhere, but i dont know how to fix it. please tell me how. if it requires a kernel recompile that's fine, no problem, just help please.thnx in advance

APMD

first, see if your motherboard has Advanded power management enabled (and that it's ATX). then, compile (or insmod) APM into your kernel. there are a number of options in the compile stage, so read the docs.

what distro and version are u using?

thanx! piece of cake! a little time consuming cause ill have te recompile the option into the kernel, but still a piece of cake.
