Unhappy gui vs. command line

when i shut down my session (gui in mandrake, im not a command line user) i got a dialog box. i chose "halt" but all it did was dump the gui into a command line prompt asking for a login and password. now when i boot up and mandrake runs through the boot process, all i get now is a command line prompting for a login and password.

what happened to mandrake gui. i cant use this, i need my gui!!!

help....help....help

Log in, type startx. Your GUI will be back. To make it permanent look into /etc/inittab. Find line
id:3:initdefault:
Change 3 to 5 and it should be OK now.
