When you login, try to type "startx". If you did not install a gui, then I would recommend you reinstalling Redhat. If you are new to Linux, it's not all that easy to get used to it, let it alone fixing a broken installation right at the start
You may also consider a newer distro. Redhat is the Windows 95 of Linux: Old and unsupported. Grab a new distro as Fedora (in the case you like Redhat line) and you are most likely to have fewer problems.
