gui file search in fc3

Hello?

Would anyone know if FC3 has a GUI file
search tool in its default login GUI (Gnome)?

Well, for that matter, in KDE as well.

Thanks.

in gnome check your menus in the panel, in kde search in the first menus in the K icon

In gnome:
Actions > Search for files

Hi mrcheeks,

In FC3, I do not see a tool/command on the panel bar
for "file search" that would eventually start off a GUI
environment.

There's, however, a "file browse" command, but no where
under every dropdown menus in this command is "file search"
to be found that would invoke a GUI environment.

I don't know if KDE has a GUI file search tool, but I'll look for it.

Thanks, though, for your quick comment.

Hi mrcheeks and diamonds,

In KDE, under the K-start (Windows Start equivalent),
there's a submenu for "file search" that would invoke
the GUI search tool.

In Gnome, yes indeed, there's a "search for files" submenu
under "actions" panel menu that would invoke the GUI
search environment.

However, I'm not able to just select the entire hard drive
for file sarching instead of selecting a folder location first
in either search tool.

Anyway, thanks for your quick comments, mrcheeks and diamonds.

Great!

To search the whole hard drive (well all mounted partitions anyway), you need to specify the root (/) directory as the one to search.
