I have tried many times to install fedora 13 and when it finishes installing get text login instead going to x process for gui. What is this happening to installation?

You need to give us more information on the hardware you are using, how old the computer is, what graphics card you have, what error messages if any you got during the installation?

If the Xorg server is installed startx will get you into gui.

The system had fedora 12 installed in GUI before and therefore, I dont think it is a graphic card and the installation does not give any error. When I start installation, it does not give the option of choosing the packages to install, it just installed the basic packages.

Thanks

Does 'startx' work? If it does, go into /etc/inittab and find the line:

id:3:initdefault:

and change it to

id:5:initdefault:

If it doesn't, get it working, THEN edit /etc/inittab.

the intab file is just a way to hard code in a TEXT ONLY ( 3 ) or gui ( 5 )

BUT just assuming that it worked on fedora 12 then it will work on fedora 13 is very very wrong
Fedora changes SO MUCH between versions that only sometimes an " upgrade" works
and to use the better "preupgrade" option your /boot partition must be bigger than 800 meg ( 1 gig will do ) not the 100 meg default size .

it is recommended to do a 100% full clean install
reformat the partitions that have fedora 12 on them then let the fedora 13 installer repartition them to ext 4 .

also fedora CHANGED the version of Xorg in the default install of 13 to 1.8
Most old legacy nvidia & ATI cards DO NOT support 1.8 .
only nvidia newer than gforce 5 and up are supported
ATI ??? i do not know
also fedora 13 sets the opensource nvidia nouvea driver as DEFAULT and the open fglrx for ati

please READ the fedora 13 release notes and install guide
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...Release_Notes/
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...ide/index.html

there is an option in the anaconda installed ( from the 3.7 gig dvd )
to install almost EVERYTHING that is normally needed. BUT there will also , be about 3 gig's of updates by now ( out 2 months )

BUT
- you still NOT given us the hardware info we asked for so that we can help you

What is your 3d card? ( ati ,nvidia )
and it's VERSION .
or the built in pseudo 3d chip ?
how much ram it there ?
the min. went up in 13 , i think .
how did you install fedora 13 ?
a full clean install ?
or did you try to use "upgrade" ?
