guest ok vs. guest only in samba configuration

Looks like all our samba shares are setup with the following parameters: comment, path, browseable, writeable, then either have guest only or guest ok set to yes. All our machines are Windows, but the file servers are RHEL. We want everyone to just connect easily and have permissions to everything. Is one setting "better" than the other? they're not consistent between all our share setups, and i'm not sure if i should go through and change them all to the one that's "best" if one has benefits or drawbacks compared to the other.

Thanks for any tips or advice you have.

that is self explanatory, just see the man page http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/...5.html#GUESTOK
"guest ok" means guest access is allowed.
"guest only" means only guest account is allowed, others are not.

the settings cannot be better or worse, it depends always on the requirements.

Right, I guess my question is more, in the environment I basically described, I can't really determine any difference between the two, and i'm wondering if i'm missing something or not. Users don't have accounts on our RHEL server, and the server isn't tied in to Active Directory at all.

Then, in samba terms, your users are all guests and there is no functional difference between "guest only" and "guest ok".
