gtk warning cannot open display
after a recent system upgrade and install of gnome i get this error
gnome-session:164 GTK warning cannot open display
anyone have any idea what this means
this means that gtk does not know where your GUI (aka X-Server) is running, your best bet is to run the following command
if this works, add that file to your ~/.bashrc file
echo "export DISPLAY=:0" >> ~/.bashrc
Solved my issue.
Thanks for the tip! I wrote this script to generate pdf reports on remote hosts using ksar (Java headless) and every time i would execute it would fail, unless i was logged in and ran from my own user account which i wanted it to run from a non-user account. issue solved by exporting the display.
