LinuxQuestions.org - Grub troubles, SUSE 10.1

Hi all,
I'm new here and relativly new to linux, I've only been using it for a month or so.
I had SUSE 10.1 and windows XP dual booting fine until I reinstalled windows, I formatted my C drivethen re-installed, after a few days of getting windows how I wanted it and installing software I wanted to get dual booting again, this is where the fun starts....

I wacked in the SUSE DVD and got into SUSE using the "other" installation option and choosing boot installed os. I then followed some (vague) instructions on setting up grub (which I cant find now so I'm not totally sure what I did). So now when I turn on my pc Grub loads up and has the options that it had before (SUSE, SUSE fail safe and windows), SUSE loads perfectly from the menu but windows does not, it displays the following error
"root (hd0,1)
filesystem type unknown, partition type 0xf
chainloader +1"

I have tried a few different values in the /boot/grub/menu.lst file but to no avail. I then noticed that my C drive isn't mounting as it used to, it is in the /windows folder but there are no files in it. It also shows up in media:/ with the disk size but has the un-mounted icon, trying to mount it using the menu in konqueror displays "premissions
denied" (this is using konqueror as root). Using the df command gives the following output:

Windows C is on the same drive as windows D, well should be......

Has anyone got any ideas how I can get windows to boot from grub? And yes I really do need to use windows :-( I have to use SolidWorks for university.

Any help would be great, hope that wasn't too long winded.....
