boot into XP from grub prompt

Hello all,

I installed Fedora core 1 a week or so ago and everything was going fine, until today when i turned my computer on, and I got this weird grub command prompt deal. it says: grub> then wants me to type one of a handful of commands.

My question is does anyone know why it's doing this, how I can fix it for the future so I can go back to being able to select which os to boot into using my arrow keys, and how I can boot into XP from the prompt?

Thanks in advance.

Can you boot into linux?

I tried just typing "boot" but it gave me an error saying that the kernel needed to be started or something like that. Other than just typing boot, I don't know how I would boot into linux.

try "bare.i" "linux" and "rescue".

i'll give it a shot. thanks. just so i understand, that will boot me into linux?

i tried typing: "bare.i" "linux" and "rescue". but it said that bare.i is not a recognized command. It gives me a list of about 40 commands which I can type in, and unfortunately neither bare.i, linux or rescue are one of them.

any other ideas of how I could boot into xp?

lol, me again,

I think I know now what caused this weird problem to arise. I ran DriveImage 2002 on XP, yesterday I believe, and it told me that it spotted some errors with a few of my partitions, something about these numbers not being the same, or not lining up or something. Without thinking, I just told DriveImage to fix them. That, I bet, messed up grub somehow, it probably messed up my whole hard drive for all I know, and now I'm stuck.

Anyone with any other help?

What I said were just guesses. One of those 40 commands should boot either into windows or linux. If you can boot into linux, you can re-install grub.
