Grub installs successfully but will not boot.

I restored my system with CentOS 4.8.
When it boots I am taken to the GRUB prompt.

I ran the following commands:

find /grub/stage1
root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0)

It claims it was successful. Here is the output.

After I give the 'boot' command it just reboots back into the grub prompt. Am I doing something wrong?

Greetingz!
Try this;
Code:
grub> setup hd0,0
You should see a bunch of output. Then check your default boot line in the config file
Code:
title CentOS-custom (2.6.18-194.8.1.el5) (hd0,0)
  root (hd0,0)
  kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-194.8.1.el5 ro root=/dev/vg0/lv1 rhgb quiet crashkernel=128@16M
  initrd /initrd-2.6.18-194.8.1.el5.img

There are two other things to look at: your partition setup and your grub menu.lst (just the menu part listing your installed OSs).
Please show the output of "fdisk -l" along with the menu stanzas from /boot/grub/menu.lst. That information may be enough to sort things out.

Smile Grub Loader

The partition mounted on /boot/ contains the operating system kernel.
While creating the /boot partition, select "Force to be a primary partition" ... next window ...Grub loader... select "The GRUB boot loader will be installed on /dev/hda" and proceed further.
