Grub faux pas

Not a complete beginner after what feels like 100s of installs across four multi-boot machines (Win98/XP plus up to 6 linux distros - don't ask!), I've just managed to make one particular blunder - I put Grub in the partition for another distro.

Specifically, PCLos Grub into Mandriva's partition.

Whilst this is not completely disastrous - ie Mandriva's Grub will still loads from PCLos's Grub menu - but it is not how I want it (and I didn't realise that two Grubs could co-exist in the same partition)!

Without reinstalling either or both can I rescue the situation?

If, for example I reassign Grub within PCLos, would it also remove it from the Mandriva partition leaving Mandriva's Grub intact?

Boot from a rescue disk and reconfigure from there:

What do you mean by "rescue disk" - the livecd? And why should I since both installations are accessible?

Situation salvaged - and without touching a cd or "Rescue Disk"!

Loaded PCLos from it's Grub in the Mandriva partition, then reassigned Grub to the correct partition.

Rebooted.

Loaded Mandriva from original PCLos's Grub (which was still present and active), then restored Mandriva's Grub hoping it would retake control of the partition - which it did.

Rebooted and, lo! Job done!
