Grub download, windows and other linux distro's out of the boot menu.
Hi all,
I'm struggling with a boot menu problem.
I first installed a ubuntu 10.04 (64bit) distribution next to my windows 7.
For my particular application (install RTAI) I needed to downgrade grub2.
Later on I also installed a 32 bit ubuntu 10.04 (just for comparison's sake :-)), so grub2 was the default boot loader again(at this stage all the different OS and the various kernel configurations were still accessible in the boot menu).
To patch this 32 bit distro with rtai and get it to boot, I had to downgrade grub2 once again. This is were it all went wrong....
When I boot up now there is only: the latest 32 version to select, and I really like my old configs back :-).
I backed up everything from grub2, so they should be somewhere on the machine... I just don't now were to look!

It is not a good idea to link a thread that has not been solved, OP may get discouraged reading a thread that does not have a solution. You could use some of the links in that thread and post them here. I am not familiar with ubuntu or grub2 but you should be able to use your ubuntu as a live cd live and repair the mbr to point to your ubuntu menu. Here is a link to grub 2 repairs starting with Post 3, Task K.

No hard feelings, but
1.There is no point in wasting time what's already being under discussion cause every day at least 1 thread about booting problems and mostly dual booting.
2.One member can't point out all the links under discussion.
3.All The members who were part of discussion should be credited.
I think it makes sense if a link is serving all of these purposes
Thanks for both of you reply's. Sorry for my late reaction but other projects stood in the way...
I took a look at both links you've suggested, and I'm curious to test them.
I'm having trouble however seeing the link from Larry, I'm getting this feedback from the browser:

I'm not sure what the problem is (the website or our network here) but I'll sort it out...
