Grub doubt

Hi..I am bit confuse that when there is a system with dual boot(Windows & Linux). And Linux is configured with /boot, / and many other partition. If windows got reformat, we can get back Linux by installing grub. could you please tell me on which I should install grub, it should be on /boot or / or just sda ?

Is what you're asking where to install grub so it is the bootloader for both linux and windows?
If so you want it on the MBR of sda(your hard disk).

Sorry if I misunderstood what you are asking though.

You mean, Just "grub-install /dev/sda" isn't it?

If you are using a live cd to install grub then you need to include your / partition. The command depends on which grub you are working with.
