grub.conf in centos 6.2
 
hi everybody,
i have problem installing centos and windows. first i installed centos in my laptop and windows xp but i was not able to boot centos. windows will open directly.as i know, i have insert centos cd and run from rescue mode while trying to edit grub.conf such error occurs.
Code:

grub> root (hd0,0)
error 18: selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS.

can anybody guide me how to fix problems, i'll be greatful any kinds of ideas suggestions are welcome.

Install Windows XP first then CentOS, it should solve the problem.

for your quick reply, i have installed more than 4 times. first i installed centos and windows and i edit grub.conf so i was able to boot centos or windows xp on my choice but this time when i try to edit grub such error occurs:

Searching for your error message on the internet reveals a lot of threads with possible answers to the problem:

It seems that it could be anything from the size of your disk to a faulty cable or corrupted BIOS.

If you install Windows first and then CentOS, I don't think you should have to do anything to grub: CentOS should see the Windows installation and set up grub for you.
