Green temp file for text files?

Hi all

Just wondering:

When I create or edit a text file, I get a green icon in the same dir as the original file, with the same name apart from a ~ at the end of it. I presume this is a temp file? Is it safe to delete of is it needed?

Thanks

Hong

What application are you using to edit the files?

I know Open Office will make backups, and I think you can turn the option on or off. I had a look at my directories where I store files, and I have them also. I checked a couple of them, and they appear to be the same, ie. ture backups. Can you earse them, probably, if backups are not important.

There may be other apps that create backups.

Hope this helps.
