Graphics problems on Dell notebook

Im only new to the whole linux OS. I installed SuSe 10.0 last night and all went perfect except for resolution problems on my widescreen DELL Inspiron 8600. Except this morning, my login screen has dissappeared and all you see is a green screen, you can type your username and press enter then type your password and the it logs you in and all you can see is your wallpaper, it doesn even ask you for your username or password...NOTHING. I am in major need of some help...for both to get the login screen back and to make the resolution 1680x1050 work without doubling my screen!!!

Thanks for your help, hope someone can lend us a hand

Do CTRL+ALT+Fn (one of the function keys) to get to a command line. Log in there and then copy your xorg.conf file so we can see what's happening with it. For the short term, I'd edit it as root so that it uses a lower resolution and see if that helps.

Oh, and welcome to LQ :D
