Graphic problems with Mandrake and Toshiba laptop
Hi! I'm very, VERY new to Linux, but I have to learn about it cause we need to set up a server as part of a project. My current PC is a Toshiba M15-S405 laptop, which uses a 32MB DDR nVidia Geforce4 420 Go graphics adapter.
I just installed Mandrake 9.0 yesterday. No problems for working from the text mode, but whenever I try to load the X interface, i get the error "Not able to find the GLX nVidia driver". I thought I had to go to nVidia website, download the current drivers and install them (which I did!), but I still get the same problem and nothing can be seen in my screen after using the "startx" command. I don't know what should I do. Help, anyone? |
did you edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file???
you need to comment out the load GLX line (if my memory serves me correctly) as well as change driver "nv" to driver "nvidia" |
