gqcam, vgrabbj install issues

I am running a_fresh install of Mandrake 9.2 and I'm trying to get an (ancient?) Logitech Express webcam working on it.

The cam works fine with the USB drivers that shipped with M9.2 (I plug the cam into the USB port and it places an icon for Gnomemeeting on my desktop - Gnomemeeting sees the camera fine and I get an image from it with no problems). My problem is that I use this box as a server for my home office and I want to have a real webcam app running on it as a daemon so that I don't have to be logged into it for things to work. My idea is to have images uploaded to an ftp server for archiving periodically throughout the day (my house was recently robbed - I lost two computers and TVs - and if it happens again I'd like to maybe have some evidence to catch the crooks).

Anyway, I downloaded gqcam to use with Poor Man's Cam and Stamp! but I can't seem to get gqcam to install.

I decompress the downloaded archive, cd into the directory where the files expanded to and type "make" and then it returns the following errors:

gcc `gtk-config --cflags` -DVERSION=\"0.9\" -c gqcam.c
/bin/sh: line 1: gtk-config: command not found
/bin/sh: line 1: gcc: command not found
make: *** [gqcam.o] Error 127

What do these errors mean and how do I go about fixing them?

I also tried vgrabbj but after I type "./configure" in the directory where I decompressed the archive to it returns errors like this:

loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal-1.4... missing
checking for working autoconf... missing
checking for working automake-1.4... missing
checking for working autoheader... missing
checking for working makeinfo... found
checking for mawk... mawk
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

Again, I don't really know what these things mean since I'm pretty green to compiling and such. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

TIA,
Matt

Well, I got no help on this issue - but found gqcam as rpm by Google - and installed that with no problems, up and running now.
