Unhappy goutputstream-xxx file?

Hi people!

Well, I don't really know where exactly I should put this question on this forum, hope it's the right place. So, I was trying to load pictures from an SDHC card, however, my laptop doesn't seem to be able to read them. The first time, it was okay, second time, my laptop just crashed and I had to unplug the card to get it back again, both happened on my windows and ubuntu, and after failure on ubuntu, there was such a file left in the destination folder: ".goutputstream-TVD3JV". I have never seen files with such a weird name, I googled and am still confused. What does this file mean? Does it also reveal the problem of not being able to read the SDHC card?

BTW, after several attempts of loading pictures, it says "reading error" on my camera when I browse to the first ones. I can still read other pictures on camera. Does this mean my card is partly damaged? :'(

I guess this is not purely a question of linux? But anyways, if anyone could help me figure out, I'd so appreciate that!!! Help!!!

If even the camera gives you error messages there is a good change that the filesytem on the card is corrupted.
For recovering. I would advise to search for photorec on this site. There are several threads already about recovering photos from corrupted memory cards.

After you recovered your data reformat the card with your camera.
